COLLECTION: WOMEN

Since I began studying the life and oeuvre of this young art photographer, Lene Marie Fossen (1986-2019, Norway), I knew I had to paint her. So this is an homage to her.As I’ve mentioned in some descriptions of my work, what interests me as a creator is abnormality. So the sicknesses and its impact on human experience are one of my interests. I made this work with deep respect and admiration towards this woman and artist.

Sometimes, the results of the work itself inspires me to make a poetic dissertation. This painting is one of those cases. "This is Evangelina in two different moments. Just as if to whisper twice, simultaneously: Evangelina-Evangelina. Or else, these are Evangelina’s inner landscapes displaying her frantic beauty.

As a creator, I’ve always been concerned with abnormality and its effects in human life. To create this work, I read and watched testimonials of persons united in the same body (some even were twins) living “intersected lives”, such as the admirable story of Abby and Brittany Hensel and many others. I created this work with deep respect for these people.

As a creator, I'm interested in human nature and what triggers an specific social behavior. I based this portrait on a mugshot of an unknown female inmate. The astonishment of the woman's expression provoked me to make up the work.

Just like in dreams, reality overlaps experiences. This artwork responds to this phenomenon: the reading of a story of Yourcenar and the news of the tragic and obscene killing of a woman. I invite you to watch the artwork's procedure at https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Nl01ZHfYN/

The drive that a character has in a true crime documentary inspired me to create this artwork. So, the artwork's title, the character's gesture and mood, the special use of light on its face, the close-up format and the palette make up the atmosphere of the work.

Work based on a Paul Weston’s photograph: “Tina Reciting”.
I base this artwork on a screenshot from a true forensic documentary. This with deep respect for the implicated. As an artist, one of the things that calls my attention is the human experience after losing life, such as the physical changes the body suffers. And I add, the emotional states that a person must suffer during the lasts moments of its life.

This is a tribute to Mary Jane Kelly, the last woman of the five canonical victims. As an artist, what amazed me, among so many other things, is the tireless fury of her perpetrator: Jack The Ripper. The original was interchanged by the beautiful and enigmatic Pierre Fudaryli's artwork, "Delta Entrópica".

I created this artwork after reading about Eva Perón’s afterlife, the First Lady of Argentina (1946-1952). As we all know, when she died, the Spanish pathologist, Dr. Pedro Ara, embalmed her body with magnificent success. Since then, she resembles just like the character of the children’s story, “Sleeping Beauty”, immersed in a deep, peaceful dream in a forever youthful body. Her embalmed corpse has a lengthy story. In one of its to and fro transcontinental trips from America to Europe, her coffin fell down and her nose broke. This detail inspired me to create the artwork of an unknown female with a broken nose.

This portrait is an homage for the women that lost their lives in the hands of Jack the Ripper a couple of centuries ago. Their names, as we all know, are Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly. Since I began this artwork, I wanted to portray the troubled life and tragic deaths of these unknown (at the time) women. I created this artwork with deep respect towards them.

Since I began studying the life and oeuvre of this young art photographer, Lene Marie Fossen (1986-2019, Norway), I knew I had to paint her. This is one of several artworks I have done in her honor. This artist suffered from anorexia and chose to make self portraits. The environment where she made up her work is a deserted 14th century leprosarium in Chios, Greece. Sicknesses and its impact on human experience are one of my artistic interests. I made this work with deep respect and admiration towards this woman and artist. Collection: Women

Welcome to this collection.

What interests me as a creator is abnormality and its impact on human life. I make my work with deep respect towards the women on which I make my studies.

In this collection, I interpret and portray historical females; some renowned characters, others anonymous, but all of their biographies called my attention as an artist and as a woman. I treat most of these creations with drama. This means that, in every work, I try to grasp the character's frantic condition.

My Art Initial Resources

As an artist, I use all the resources I have in hand to create a piece. Some of the following tools are: physical models, digital photography, video stills, radiology images, clay and 3D (digital) sculptures (done by me), digital deformation (using Photoshop), and traditional techniques (oil, acrylic, water colouring, etc.). Sometimes, I mix these two techniques–traditional and digital–with very interesting results, such as in "The Deaf Man 7". In other words, almost any media is an initial resource to paint a portrait!

Art Techniques

The techniques I use are traditional  (oil and acrylic, crayon, pencil, clay sculpting, etc.) and digital painting (digital tablet, Photoshop, 3D sculpture, etc.).
